Once we got to the Novotel Lami Bay Resort we were checked into the ground floor near the pool. Beautiful view of the bay and pool.
We had a shower since we had been traveling for over 24 hours. Decided we were hungry and went for brunch in the open air dining room. I had the most marvelous fish
curry and Jim had the Nasi Goreng. Had them bring me a coffee that I
still rave about. After the crappy airline coffees this was dark roasted
and had a nice froth on top with a little heart shaped on top. After
that wonderful meal we went for a walk to the Lami grocery store (Shop
and Save), got paper towels, more Kleenex and water. You know you are a stranger in a strange land when people are looking at you strangely!
It was very hot and
humid walk so when we got back we went for a swim in the pool and dried up
on deck.. Didn't realize how hot it was so Jim burned the top of his
head. The sun
down here is really strong. Do not realize it when the cooling breeze
from the ocean is on you. We then laid down and slept soundly for 4
hours which would have been around 8. Figured we better stay up for a
few hours to get into the time zone.
Sunday we partook of their
wonderful breakfast on the open patio. They even had gluten free
pancakes and they were delicious with eggs, bacon and sausages. We went
for another walk the other way but there really wasn't anything nice to
see. Shacks, cement factory.....very poor country, third world someone might say.
Later on we sat up on the deck
and I had something I had tried earlier a "Bus Ride" Gin, triple sec and
cranberry juice. Really yummy. Jim had Shaken but not Stirred
Martini's. Nice buzz and went and had another lovely meal. End of the
weekend. Really feeling like we are in Paradise. Too bad Jim has to go
to work tomorrow
